Afgelopen zondag, 14 september, werd in Martiniplaza de expositie Illustratiekunst feestelijk geopend. Deze expositie is een initiatief van beroepsvereniging INKT.PRO in samenwerking met Art Promotion International. In het sfeervolle Theatercafé Chez Jacques genoten vele bezoekers van een hapje en een drankje, terwijl fotograaf , curator en initiatiefnemer Jaap de Jonge de middag opende met een korte toelichting op de kunstwerken en het ontstaan van de expositie.

Daarna nam journalist en schrijver Frank von Hebel, die zelf een grote affiniteit heeft met strips en illustraties, het woord. Met een inspirerende speech gaf hij officieel het startsein voor de tentoonstelling.

De expositie toont een gevarieerde selectie van werken van INKT.PRO-leden, waaronder Frans Le Roux, Hans Huisjes, Dimitri Jansma, Anka Willems Myriam Beerenschot, Kees Koorevaar, Angelique Boter en vele anderen. Wat deze tentoonstelling bijzonder maakt, is dat het gaat om illustraties die normaal gesproken slechts één keer worden gebruikt in commerciële of culturele uitingen, zoals producten, kinderboeken, tijdschriften of strips. Nu krijgen ze een eigen podium — en dat maakt deze expositie uniek.

De kunstwerken zijn nog tot en met 25 januari gratis te bewonderen in de theaterfoyer van Martiniplaza. Een absolute aanrader voor liefhebbers van hedendaagse illustratiekunst en visuele storytelling.

This past Sunday, September 14, the exhibition Illustration Art was festively opened at Martiniplaza. The exhibition is an initiative by the professional association INKT.PRO in collaboration with Art Promotion International. In the atmospheric Theater Café Chez Jacques, many visitors enjoyed drinks and snacks while photographer, curator, and initiator Jaap de Jonge kicked off the afternoon with a brief introduction to the artworks and the origins of the exhibition.

Following that, journalist and author Frank von Hebel—himself deeply passionate about comics and illustrations—took the stage. With an inspiring speech, he officially launched the exhibition.

The showcase features a diverse selection of works by INKT.PRO members, including Frans Le Roux, Hans Huisjes, Dimitri Jansma, Anka Willems, Myriam Beerenschot, Kees Koorevaar, Angelique Boter, and many others. What makes this exhibition special is its focus on illustrations that are typically used only once in commercial or cultural contexts—such as products, children’s books, magazines, or comics. Now, these works are given their own platform, making this exhibition truly unique.
